Ben Simons grew up in Cadillac, Michigan and was the Mr. Basketball Runner-up in Michigan in 2009 behind Derrick Nix.

Simons played his college basketball at Drake University in Iowa.

Following his career at Drake Simons has played professionally overseas since 2013 including this past season for Telekom Bsk in Germany.
